As the Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education's first public meeting for this fall is scheduled for this coming Monday evening, as a service to our readers, the Great Neck Record is publishing the upcoming year's schedule of regular business and budget meetings for the 2002-2003 school year.
Board of education meetings generally begin at 8:30 p.m. When there is a board of education recognition of students at one of the secondary schools, the recognition begins at 8 p.m., followed by a regular board of education meeting.
The next board of education meeting will be Monday, Sept. 9. The board will then meet again in September, on Monday, Sept. 23.
There are also two board of education meetings scheduled for October. The board will meet on Monday, Oct. 7, and on Monday, Oct. 21.
The board of education is scheduled to meet only once in November and once in December. They will meet on Monday, Nov. 18, and again on Monday, Dec. 9
There will be three board of education meetings in January 2003. The board will meet on Monday, Jan. 6; on Thursday, Jan. 9 for the GNTA/UPTC budget; and on Monday, Jan. 27.
The board of education will meet once in February 2003. The board will meet on Monday, Feb. 10. This meeting includes board of education recognition of Village School students, so the meeting will begin (with the recognition) at 8 p.m., followed immediately by the regular meeting.
There are three board of education meetings scheduled for March 2003. The board will meet on Monday, March 10; this will be an informal budget hearing. This meeting will begin at 8 p.m. with a board recognition of North High students, followed by the regular meeting.
The board will then meet again on Monday, March 24; this will also be an informal budget hearing. The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. with a board recognition of South High students, followed by the regular meeting.
On Saturday, March 29, the board will meet, during the day (time to be announced) for a budget meeting.
Two meetings are scheduled for April 2003. The board will meet on Monday, April 7, beginning at 8 p.m. with a board of education recognition of South Middle School students, followed by the regular meeting. On Tuesday, April 29, the board will meet for an official budget hearing and budget adoption, as well as a BOCES vote.
In May 2003, the board will meet on Monday, May 12, beginning at 8 p.m. with board recognition of North Middle School students, followed by a regular meeting.
Tuesday, May 20, 2003 is the budget vote for the 2003-2004 school year budget.
The board of education will then meet twice in June 2003. The board will meet on Monday, June 2, and on Monday, June 16. The June 16 meeting includes a retirement recognition and will start at 8 p.m.
