  • Sports: Town Park Summer Season Begins Memorial Day Weekend

    Residents anxious to begin a new summer full of fun activities will find lots to do at town parks this year. The highlight of the summer is always the concerts in the park. The summer concert series begins with a special July 4 concert at Bar Beach with "The Chiclettes." The Bar Beach concert series will continue each and every Sunday through Sept. 1. In addition, there will be a special free concert at Bar Beach on Wednesday, July 17, at 7 p.m. with Body Heat and Blue Angel. In addition to the Sunday concert series, there will be weekly concerts at Mary Jane Davis Green in Manhasset (Monday nights) and Clark Gardens in Albertson (Tuesday nights). Finally, there are three-scheduled night concerts, July 19 (East Coast Orchestra) and 26th (The Capris) at Clinton G. Martin Park and July 12 (Cover to Cover) at Manorhaven Beach Park. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Great Neck Park District Sports

    Now that spring has sprung, Commissioner Bill Dobkin is again rallying the troops for the adult softball games that were so popular last year. Anyone 40+ is eligible to play and can make their intention known by calling Dorina Martakis at the Beach Road office-482-0181-and leave his/her name and contact information. The games will take place at Kings Point Park field #1, on the Steamboat Road side of the park. The season will begin on the Thursday, June 6, from 5 p.m. until dusk and games will be played on Thursdays thereafter. FULL STORY
