Arlene Nevens Heads Library
With tremendous support from the Great Neck Library's board of trustees, Interim Director Arlene Nevens accepted the position as permanent library director. A Great Neck resident and a longtime library staff member, Ms. Nevens has been serving as interim director for a second time since December 2000. She was appointed library director at the board's last meeting. Thanking the library board ''for this tremendous vote of confidence'' she spoke of how the library ''holds a very dear place in my heart and in my life.''

The committee for the Great Neck Sarah Hughes parade has announced that the parade scheduled for Sunday, March 3, is being rescheduled for Sunday, March 10. The parade and ceremony will take place at the same times and locations as originally planned.

Bi-State Commission to Bring the Super Bowl to the NY/NJ Area
Standing on the decks of Chelsea Piers on Super Bowl Sunday, US Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Robert G. Torricelli (D-NJ) today announced the creation of a bi-state commission to work with the National Football League (NFL) to bring the 2007 Super Bowl to the New York/New Jersey area. Schumer and Torricelli said they would serve as the commission's honorary co-chairs to help the NFL navigate the bureaucracies of their respective states and expedite the approvals necessary to bring the event to the area.
