GN Excels With Two Intel Finalists
Great Neck North's Raphael Farzan-Kashani and South's Angela Soeun Kim have been named finalists in the Intel Science Talent Search! These two talented seniors are among 40 finalists in the nation, with 15 from New York-more than any other state-and eight from Long Island, the greatest number from any one area nationwide. Great Neck is one of only four New York districts to have two finalists; the others are Bronx High School of Science, Manhasset High School, and Stuyvesant High School. Only one district in the nation had three.
Oy Vey, You Better Watch Out
An informal, and highly unscientific count of the number of people still driving around chatting on handheld cell phones revealed that one out of ten drivers is blithely ignoring the state law that went into effect in December that outlaws the practice. GNN Girls Indoor Track Team Finishes Remarkable Season at Conference Championships
The Great Neck North High School girls track team began their season this year with a great start, headed by new Coach Rick Amira. "The girls on the team are very enthusiastic toward running," stated Coach Amira, "I enjoyed the experience of working with the Great Neck North athletes. What's especially welcoming is the school's camp-like setting - you don't appreciate it until you have been somewhere else." This season the team says goodbye to four dedicated captains: Hannah Lavon, Michelle Sassouni, Shereen Rashidi and Sepideh Radparvar.
Congratulations Intel Winners!
