September 11th of 2001 will be a sad date that will live in our memories forever. It not only changed our perception of life, but also changed the 'routine' tour of duty of our armed forces deployed overseas. Among them was the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit / Special Operations Capable (15MEU/SOC).

The Kings Point men's basketball team continued their torrid run through the Skyline Conference this past week, improving to 5-0. Overall the Mariners are 10-2 heading into a crucial week with three Skyline games.
Great Neck Park District Sports
During 2002, the park district nature program will feature a special hiking series designed to emphasize exercise and socializing. The series will begin on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 1:45 p.m. in the center section of Caumsett State Park in Huntington. This session will include a 6-mile, moderately paced hike. Questions will be welcome, but there will be no formal nature discussion. Park district residents will have the opportunity for uninterrupted exercise and socializing. Please bring drinking water. This hike is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Directions will be mailed upon request and residents are urged to register by Jan. 24 by calling the Parkwood administration office, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 487-7665.
