The Great Neck Lacrosse Club has announced that it will compete for the first time in the PAL boys lacrosse league in 2002. Registration will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Great Neck South Middle School Cafeteria at 7 p.m. and is open to fifth and sixth grade boys.

"After a year of weekly clinics we are ready to compete in the PAL," said team director Artie Diamond. The team will play in the novice league against other beginning programs. Games will be played Sundays from April 7 to June 9. Practice is scheduled to begin Saturday, March 15, at Great Neck South HS lower fields.

"When we started last year the goal was to prove that there was real interest in our community to field a team. It looks like the dream is about to become a reality. When we play the first game on April 7 it will be quite a day. We are all unbelievably excited," said Diamond.

Because equipment is still being sought for the team, the cost of registration is still being determined. Assistant coaches and volunteers are needed, experience is not necessary. For further information, call Artie Diamond, evenings at 775-3921.
