Park Candidates Duke It Out
The debate between incumbent, Ruth Tamarin, and challenger, Joseph Rosenthal, for the position of Great Neck Park District Commissioner was held at the Great Neck House on Nov. 27, but may be viewed in its entirety on Public Access TV, Channel 71, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 9 at 4:30. The debate was conducted by the League of Women Voters with member, Betsy Brody from the East Nassau League officiating.
Army Rangers: A Family Tradition
Since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on our nation, much has changed, including a renewed interest in and respect for our fellow citizens who serve in our armed forces. Great Neck can be especially proud of the Blaha family, where Christopher Blaha has just followed in his brother Jack's footsteps, with service as an Army Ranger.
Kings Point Weekly Wrap-up
The Kings Point men's basketball team was blistering from the floor on Monday, Nov. 26, downing the Dolphins of Mt. St. Vincent 107-79 on their own court in the Bronx. The team set a new Academy record with 15 three-pointers as they shot 55.6 percent from downtown. Despite breaking the 100-point barrier four times during their Sweet 16 run last season, Kings Point has not scored more than 106 points since the 1993-94 season when they tallied 112 against Nazareth. In the 57-year history of the men's basketball program, the Mariners have only surpassed 106 points on eight occasions.
