Midshipman Chrissy Anderson is the 2001 Skyline Conference Women's Cross Country Champion.

On Sunday, the US Merchant Marine Academy women's cross country team won the Skyline Conference Championship at Sunken Meadow State Park. The Mariners' women's athletics program has won Skyline Conference titles in volleyball and swimming in the past, but never in any other sport. Freshman Chrissy Anderson (North Vernon, IN) of Kings Point won the women's crown in the five-kilometer event in a time of 21:32.0. Senior captain Brigitt Clausing (Menomonie, WI) was third in 21:49.4. Sophomore Victoria Gigante (Old Bethpage, NY) ran the race in 22:05.0 and placed fourth while senior Alison Gaudiano (Fairfax, VA) was sixth in a time of 22:53.1. All four were named 2001 Skyline All-Conference selections in cross country after placing in the top seven finishers.
The Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology won the men's title while the US Merchant Marine Academy men's team took second. The men ran a five-mile course. For the Mariners, the top placer was sophomore Aaron Smeckert (Allendale, MI) who crossed the finish line in 30:00.2, fast enough for third place. Junior Dave Byun (Los Alamitos, CA) was fourth in 30:09.3 and sophomore Joe Baran (Wappingers Falls, NY placed seventh in 30:16.2. All three were named All-Conference. Also racing for Kings Point was freshman Brian Fitzpatrick (Virginia Beach, VA) who placed 10th, freshman Nathan Daffron (Albuquerque, NM) who was 12th, sophomore Brad Eastman (Saylorsburg, PA) who was 14th, and sophomore James DuLong (Verona, NJ) who ended the race in 16th place.
