USMMA Response to September 11
Beginning at 1215 on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and concluding at 1800 on Wednesday, Sept. 19, midshipmen, faculty and staff of the United States Merchant Marine Academy worked side-by-side with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) Marine Division to support the initial rescue and recovery operations that followed the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

Great Neck's Multi-Cultural Fair
In an effort to promote a better understanding among the residents of Great Neck's very diverse community, a multicultural fair will be presented to the community next month, organized by an equally diverse ad hoc committee of local residents and community leaders. This will be a first-of-its-kind for Great Neck. The Great Neck Multicultural Fair will be held on Sunday, Nov. 18, 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church.

Kings Point Athletics-Weekly Wrap-up
The Mariners dynamic duo of sophomore quarterback Dan Circelli (New Hartford, NY) and senior wideout Jay DeBruhl (Camden, SC) connected three times in the endzone on Saturday, Oct. 13 to lead the Blue and Gray to a 30-13 win over Case Western Reserve University. Kings Point traveled to Cleveland, OH to face the Spartans on Finnigan Field. The Kings Point offense gained 427 yards while the defense limited the Spartans to 321 yards and forced four turnovers.

Sarah Hughes at Garden Benefit
Sarah Hughes, Great Neck's figure skating star, joined other top figure skaters in Madison Square Garden on Oct. 5 in a show honoring the 1961 American skaters who were killed when their plane crashed on the way to the championship trials.
