The Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center in East Hills announces that Great Neck resident, Shaina Pollack won a gold medal with the Sid Jacobson JCC Girls basketball team at this years 19th Annual Maccabi Games in Philadelphia, PA, Aug. 19-24. The girls basketball team brought home the gold medal for the third year in a row and a record third consecutive year that the team went undefeated,

The JCC also announces that Alison Barnett from Great Neck won a silver medal with the Sid Jacobson JCC Girls soccer team, and as well Daniel Frankel won a gold and two silver medals competing in the golf 13 and under division.

The Maccabi Games mission is to "provide the structure for Jewish youth to participate in athletic, Jewish cultural, educational and social activities and to provide an appropriate supportive environment for Jewish youth to associate in an atmosphere of fun, sportsmanship, democracy and peace" while promoting and encouraging their health and physical fitness and participation in recreational and athletic activities.

All the young athletes participated with strong spirit and camaraderie, competing and socializing with counterparts from all over the world, including Israel, Great Britain, Australia, Venezuela, Poland, Argentina, Mexico and Canada.
