Local Firefighters: 'I Have Seen Hell''
From all over the Great Neck peninsula, we have heard stories of terror, firsthand accounts of the World Trade Center attack, heart-wrenching tales of loved ones lost and injured. We have been heartened by stories of those saved and those with near-misses. And we have seen firsthand photographs of unspeakable horror. This week, we will share what we can with our readers.
Those Who Lived to Tell
As we go to press, and grieve over our losses, we do have some happy endings to report. We never tire of hearing about the ''near misses'' and those who escaped the war zone known as lower Manhattan. We are so grateful for those who have survived, including the children of two of our fellow Anton editors who literally ran for their lives.
