Nevens Continues at Library Post
Interim Library Director Arlene Nevens will continue at her temporary post early into 2002, according to the Great Neck Library's board of directors. Ms. Nevens, a department head at the library, has currently held this position for the past six months, since the resignation of former Library Director Christine Salita. Ms. Nevens also served as interim director for a period of time prior to Ms. Salita's appointment.

Cohan Parcel Title to Park District
The Great Neck Record has been advised that the Great Neck Park District has been granted title to the hard-won portion of the Cohan Estate adjoining Steppingstone Park and fronting on the Long Island Sound. According to Saul R. Fenchel, special counsel to the park district, title was granted by New York State Supreme Court Justice Edward G. McCabe, effective May 23, 2001. Anxious to add this property to the existing Steppingstone Park, and determined to preserve this waterfront property for public use, the park district acquired the parcel by eminent domain. Granting title is the final step in the condemnation proceeding.

Wildwood to Host UCF Pro-Am
The Second Annual UCF Pro-Am Tennis Tournament will be hosted by the Wildwood Pool and Tennis Club on Sunday, Aug. 12, from 1:30-5 p.m. The event provides an opportunity for local players to team up with the area's top teaching professionals in a competitive round-robin format. A minimum rating of 4.0 is required, plus the tax deductible $100 entry fee. This year, women players rated 4.0 or higher are also invited to play with the pros in a mixed doubles round, starting at 1:30.

Two Consecutive First-Place Golf Finishes
Great Neck Junior PGA Tour player Daniel C. Frankel finished in first place at the Met PGA Junior Tournament - Beth Page Yellow on Friday, July 6 with a six over par 76. He then finished in first place at his very next tournament played at the Harbor Links Executive course on Tuesday, July 17. Frankel sunk a 20-foot putt on the last green to secure his winning score of an 8 over par 70.
