Thirteen-year-old Daniel Frankel qualified to play in the Westfield National PGA Junior Championships. Frankel competed at the Eisenhower Park Blue Course. The field included many of Long Island's top 17-year-old golfers. Frankel shot a 77 on Sunday June 24 and scored an 83 in his official round on Tuesday, June 26. He became one of 50 players to advance to the regional finals to be held at The Knollwood Country Club in Westchester this July.

Frankel also received a special award from officials at the Harbor Links Executive Course in Port Washington for posting a three under par 28 from the back tees on Wednesday, June 27. He will be competing on the Metropolitan PGA Junior Tour this summer and is playing golf in the Philadelphia Maccabi Games this August. Frankel, a third generation Great Neck resident, will be entering North Senior High School as a freshman in September.
