Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
A while back, David Aminzadeh and his brothers, Navid and Farid, agreed that any prizes they won as a result of buying occasional lottery tickets would be shared among them. A couple of times, one or another won a small amount. But in the June 16 LOTTO drawing, David, 35, the oldest brother, discovered to his amazement and joy that his ticket, with the numbers 3-8-17-21-38-46, had won $40 million.

Plaza Awarded Traffic Calming Grant
The Village of Great Neck Plaza has been awarded a $353,000 traffic calming grant from the New York State Department of Transportation to address three problem traffic areas. Plaza Mayor Jean Celender said that the projects are intended to slow traffic and improve pedestrian safety. This new pilot program is federally funded, but administered through the state down to the local level.

A Win for Jennifer Davis
From June 14-17 Jennifer Davis, daughter of Kathie and Richard Davis, competed in the New York State Special Olympics in Buffalo. She came in first in the 50-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash and the 400 -meter walk. Her feelings of joy and accomplishment were unforgettable.

GN Youth Advances in National Golf
Thirteen-year-old Daniel Frankel qualified to play in the Westfield National PGA Junior Championships. Frankel competed at the Eisenhower Park Blue Course. The field included many of Long Island's top 17-year-old golfers. Frankel shot a 77 on Sunday June 24 and scored an 83 in his official round on Tuesday, June 26. He became one of 50 players to advance to the regional finals to be held at The Knollwood Country Club in Westchester this July.
