Elizabeth Arena, of Great Neck, died on July 1, 2001. Wife of the late Joseph. Daughter of Clara and the late Anthony DiGrigoli. Sister of Mary A. Gross. Arrangements were made by the Doyle B. Shaffer Funeral Home, Little Neck. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anastasia RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
Dr. Stuart M. Dolgin, prominent physician and a long-time resident of Great Neck and Syosset, passed away on July 2, 2001, three weeks before his 52nd birthday after a three and one-half year battle with pancreatic cancer. A graduate of Great Neck North High School and Syracuse University, he attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine and specialized in the field of gastroenterology in Great Neck and Merrick. He was a board member of Solomon Schechter Day School of NC, a member of Temple Israel of GN and the Woodbury Jewish Center, former member of the Engineers Country Club, a patron of the arts and an award-winning photographer. Dr. Dolgin held one of the first patents for anti-AIDS virus retractable syringes and operating room scalpels. He is survived by his parents, Israel and Diana; his wife Ellie; children, Rebecca, Ari and Heather; his brothers, sister and sisters-in-law, Kalmon and Peggy, Gail, Neil and Cindy; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services were held at the Woodbury Jewish Center. In honor of Dr. Dolgin's memory, the family has authorized the formation of The Dr. Stuart Mark Dolgin Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Donations may be made to the Woodbury Jewish Center, 200 Southwoods Rd., Woodbury, NY 11797-1213. All funds will be held in escrow for the foundation during formation.
