New Mayor for Village of Great Neck
Stephen H. Falk was sworn in as the new mayor for the Village of Great Neck on July 3. As is customary for the village's Better Government Party members, Mayor Steven Tell stepped down after holding the post for the past four years. Sworn in with Mayor Falk were Trustees Mitchell B. Beckerman and Ralph J. Kreitzman, and Village Justice Jon R. Mostel.

Updates From the Library
At the June 26 meeting of the Great Neck Library Board, William Morrill was given a unanimous nod by the trustees to fill the vacancy on the board left by Don Stern. And at the meeting, a decision was made to re-create the position of Assistant Librarian which was eliminated in a re-organization several years ago. In addition, the board voted to appoint Interim Director Arlene Nevens to that position after the search for a new director is completed.

Dave Kufeld to Play in Third Maccabiah Games
Longtime Great Neck resident Dave Kufeld will be representing the United States at the 16th World Maccabiah Games in Israel, starting on July 16. He will participate in masters basketball, which is for men over 40 years of age.

Great Neck Bicycle Challenge Sunday
The Great Neck Bicycle Challenge is coming to Great Neck Plaza this Sunday, July 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The race is open to U.S.C.F. and professional riders only, with a one-day U.S.C.F. license available. The race will be held on a closed .6 mile course from Grace Avenue to Canterbury Road to Stoner Avenue to Park Place. For further information, phone race director Bill Bauer at 628-2590, 8 to 10 p.m., or call Bicycle Planet at other times at 364-4434. Spectators are invited --- no admission!
