Fish Gotta Swim: APEC Forms Watershed Council
Mother Nature does not recognize geo-political boundaries. Things flow, such as water, air currents, bird and fish migrations, seeds carried by birds and wind form new plant colonies from Queens to Nassau. The two counties share the huge Northshore Watershed and yet coordination between the two places for problem solving on shared environmental issues has been limited. (Kings County and Suffolk County are also part of the Northshore watershed.)

No End in Sight: Old Village Subdivision Requests
The Village of Great Neck continues to be bombarded with requests for subdivisions. Since these applications must be heard by the village's planning board, and the planning board grants subdivision approval, planning board meetings have become lengthy events. The June 21 planning board meeting was no exception, as that board addressed several subdivision applications.

Plaza Pro-AM Bicycle Race July 15
The race will be held on a closed .6 mile course from Grace Avenue to Canterbury Road to Stoner Avenue to Park Place. According to race organizer David ''Speedy'' Emanuel, this race will provide a ''high quality level of competition,'' with professional riders riding side-by-side with elite amateurs. There is a $5,000 prize list.

Local Tennis Player to Compete in Europe
Ross Albert from Great Neck will be traveling on Tennis:Europe's Gold Medal Team this summer along with approximately 13 other players from across the United States. This team will make stops in Denmark, Sweden, and France. Albert and his teammates will compete against international junior and adult tennis players in tournaments during an 18-day tennis circuit. Team members were carefully selected on the basis of personal character and tennis ability. In addition to tennis, players will have the unique experience of living with European families and sightseeing in major cities.
