Israel's President Greets Fellow Iranians
A very warm welcome awaited Israel's President Moshe Katzav when he visited the Mashadi Jewish Center of Great Neck. An Iranian by birth, President Katzav addressed an overflowing crowd on Sunday, June 3, ascending the bimah and telling everyone that he felt as if he were home. His words quickly turned to Israel and the heritage of the Jews.

Three Village Elections June 19
Three Great Neck villages face elections next Tuesday, June 19. Only the trustee election in the Village of Kings Point is contested, with three candidates running for two trustee spots. Elections in the Village of Great Neck and in Lake Success are uncontested.

Pro-AM Bicycle Racing Is Rolling Our Way
The highly regarded Great Neck Bicycle Challenge, a race meet that twice thrilled Great Neckers and other spectators, is being revived by David "Speedy" Emanuel, a bicycle racer himself in his younger days and still an avid rider. The race originated when David wanted to realize his dream of having a world-class bike race in his hometown. "Speedy" then approached Mayor Allan Gussack and together they made his dream a reality. The first challenge was so successful that David decided to do it again four years later with even more success.

North Varsity Tennis Team Captures County Title
The Great Neck North Men's Varsity Tennis team won the Nassau County Championships this season for the first time since 1993. After finishing runner-up to Port Washington in the county championships last spring, North truly scorched the competition en route to its first title in nearly a decade.
