Great Necks High School's varsity fencing teams competed in the Nassau County Fencing Championships on Feb. 3 at Oyster Bay High School.

Great Neck South High men's varsity fencing team placed second in the men's team competition. Great Neck North High women's team placed first in the women's team competition.

Great Neck South had several team members advance to the individual competition. Ross Grutman placed third and Alvin Thalappillil placed fourth in the men's epee competition. David Kwan placed fifth and Zachary Wissner-Gross placed seventh in the men's foil competition. Katharine Harvard placed third in the women's individual epee competition.

Great Neck North High School's girls team had several members advance to the girls individual competition. Sloane Giddon placed first, Melissa Latorre placed third, and Allison Polland placed fourth in the women's foil competition. Devon Giddon placed sixth and Gabriella Aiuto placed seventh in the women's epee competition.
