The Long Island Water Conference, an organization of professional water providers, issued an alarm last week at Mr. Gulotta's proposal to slash the Water Management Unit from the Public Works Department's section of the budget.
Legends Travel Baseball Team
In 1997 the Port Washington Legends Travel Baseball Team, coached by Jimmy Cosolito, opened its roster to skilled players throughout Long Island. Chris Pieper of Great Neck spent his summer playing baseball with them. He now plays second base, bats in the cleanup position and is the anchor of the infield. The season ended with a victory in the FABL Championship and another title at the Triple Crown Long Island/Connecticut Tournament. Pieper has achieved several outstanding statistics. Along with his numerous clutch hits in big games, he finished the season hitting .540 and struck out only once in his last 91 at-bats.
