It is estimated that 35,000 women in Nassau County are beaten by husbands or boyfriends. For some, this is an almost daily occurance, but the threat of assault hangs over all of them daily. It is brutal. It is terrifying. For some, it is observed by their children. It is often hidden from their family and friends. It is domestic terrorism.

Kings Point Football Wrap-Up
The Kings Point football team ended the 1999 campaign with a 3-7 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the Freedom Football Conference. Head Coach Charlie Pravata registered his 50th career win during the season and senior quarterback Jeff Turpen (Horseshoebend, ID) set two new Academy Records. Turpen has the new mark in career touchdowns (40) and touchdowns in a season (16) following his final campaign.

North High Girls Track 2000 Recap
The season ended for North High's girls' track at the State Qualifier's held at Kings Point. Senior Erin Byrnes and Junior Dalia Yadegar competed in the 100 hurdles. They ran the same time of 17.9 in the trials. Byrnes and Yadegar teamed up with senior Jen Neman and junior Ilene Jarolem in the 4X400 relay.
