Robert J. Hedeman, 45, formerly of Great Neck, died on June 14, 2000. Beloved son of Robert M. and the late Sally Sager Hedeman. Devoted brother of Bruce Hedeman and Cindy Hedeman DiSpaltro. His sense of humor, impeccable style and love of life will be deeply missed by all of his family and many close friends and colleagues.

Arrangements were made by the Riverside-Nassau North Chapels, Great Neck.

Ruth Elinor Williams died on June 20, 2000 at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset. She was born on June 19, 1913, in Cuba, NY, to Martha L. LaRouette and Frank W. Williams Sr. Miss Williams was a graduate of Cuba High School; NYS College for Teachers - Albany, A.B.; and NYU, M.A. She also studied at Cornell U., St. Bonaventure U., St. Lawrence: Syracuse U., and the U. of Minnesota.

Her distinguished career began as a high school science teacher in Mineola where she later became chair of the science department. She worked for the Examinations and Testing Division of the NYS Education Dept., Albany, served as science teacher and guidance counselor at Herkimer H.S., was dean of women at Albright College in PA and culminated her career as high school guidance counselor in the GN Public Schools.

Miss Williams community service included serving on boards for church and the Campfire Girls. She was president of the LI Zone of the NYS Retired Teachers Association, state president of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society and was a director of the National Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of NYSUT NYSRTA, NEA and GNTA.

Miss Williams was the first retired teacher elected to the NYS Teachers' Retirement System Board where she served for three-year terms.

Ruth E. Williams is survived by her brother and sister-in-law George L. and Elsie S. Williams of Winter Park, FL; sister-in-law Marion E. Williams of Cuba; nephew David M. (JoAnne) and their children Dan and Kristen of Brookfield, CT; nieces Doreen M. (Gary) Snider and their children Paul and Mark and Diane A. (Glen) McGregor and their children Matthew G. and Tanya L. (David) Cepek. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Frank Williams.
