Boris Muladzhanor, owner and professional photographer of Photo 83, has donated a group picture of the Great Neck Spirits Special Olympics Club to Bernard Kaplan, principal of Great Neck North High School.

For the past five years, the students of North High have generously volunteered their time to the Great Neck Spirits Sports Training Club. The Great Neck school district has provided for the use of the North Middle gym for the Special Olympics training program and the annual Great Neck Games Special Olympics of Nassau County is held at North High.

Mr. Kaplan expressed, "One of the great values of the Special Olympics is what it gives to the student volunteers. Adolescence, by nature, is very self-involved. Volunteering for Special Olympics gives kids an opportunity to forget about themselves and all of the pressures that are on them. They can do something simple and special and share in another person's success. This has meant a lot to many of our kids."

Sunday, June 4 marks the fifth annual Great Neck Games. One hundred Special Olympics athletes from the Long Island community will be participating in a basketball challenge at Great Neck North High. One hundred volunteers from North High and the community assist in the annual Special Olympics event. Mr. Kaplan added, "We love to host the Special Olympics day. The spirit of the day is joyous and you are bringing the entire community together for a worthy cause."

Boris Muladzhanor said, "The Special Olympics program and the work that the volunteers do is great! I am proud to live here in America."

The Special Olympics group picture by Photo 83 will be displayed at Great Neck North High School by the gymnasium.
