The Crafts Fair Is Coming This Sunday!
The 22nd Annual Great Neck Village Business Association's Crafts Fair is coming to the Old Village this Sunday, May 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This ''traffic-stopping'' event will be set up along Middle Neck Road, from Fairview Avenue all the way up to Hicks Lane. As always, the fair is free, open to the public, and lots of fun!
DiNapoli Sees ''Fast Track'' State Budget
State Assemblyman Thomas P. DiNapoli sees the New York State budget as being on a ''fast track.'' Addressing the Great Neck Village Officials Association on April 26, Mr. DiNapoli said that he anticipated a budget vote during the upcoming two weeks. Offering a comprehensive overview of the proposed budget and presenting some ''good news'' for local government, the assemblyman also noted that, since the budget should be finished earlier than usual this year, there should also be time for some important post-budget work.
Great Neck North Girls Track Run Penn Relays
The members of the Great Neck North Girls Track team made its 10th trip to the Penn Relays held at the University of Pennsylvania April 27, 28 and 29. The 106th Running featured 849 high schools from 20 different states and seven countries including Ireland, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Canada among others. High schools from California, Ohio and North Carolina were among the roster of the Penn Relays. The Blazers sent the 4X100 and 4X400 relay teams to the meet.
Great Neck South Girls Place 2nd at Penn Relays
The Great Neck South Rebel team under Chris McKenzie made their second trip to the Penn Relays in three years and placed second in the 4X400 relay Thursday, April 27. The Rebels ran in the first of 39 heats. Junior Rachel Supris led off with a 67 split and a fifth place spot. Freshman Vala Durvett was clocked in a 68 followed by freshman Christine Chen who also turned in a 68 time. The team was still in fifth place.
