Gone with a Whimper? The Mitchell Creek Wetlands
Along the banks of the freshening creek are the beginnings of spring marked by the tender green of bramble shoots and skunk cabbage and overhead a wood duck calls in flight. The tranquillity of this scene may be unearthed soon if final approval is given by the Kings Point Planning Board to Mexpoint, Inc. to sub-divide a 23-acre parcel of wetlands that has been contested by tooth and claw for 32 years.

A request for a high school rifle team arose once more at the board of education's March 13 meeting. Howard Last broached the subject once again, with the board deferring any action unless it comes as a school-based request.

The Great Neck North girls basketball team under first year coach Joan Casazzone who is also a first year math teacher at North. The team finished with a perfect 14-0 record. Unfortunately, the 0 stands for wins. The team was made up of three seniors, two juniors and seven freshmen and sophomores.
