Tipper Gore Charms Great Neck Crowd
Brimming with praise for Great Neck's intergenerational program---the Grace Avenue school building that houses CLASP and the Senior Center---Tipper Gore charmed a large crowd last week on her visit to Great Neck. Touring CLASP's facilities, meeting with the little children, meeting with senior citizens, and, later on, speaking to a gathering of residents of all ages, Mrs. Gore won many friends as she told stories of the personal, private side of Vice President Al Gore and his family.

School District Proposes $110,823,000 Budget
The Great Neck school district proposed a $110,823,000 preliminary working budget at the board of education's Feb. 28 informal budget hearing. This proposed budget covers the school year from July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001, and represents a 4.68 percent increase over the current $105,865,000 budget.

GNS Girls Athletic Department Hosts 'Girls and Women in Sports Night'
With coaches, teachers, administrators, parents and male and female athletes of all ages, about 100 people attended the first ever "Girls and Women in Sports Night," which was organized and hosted by Great Neck South High School's Girls Athletic Department, in conjunction with the school's Girls Varsity Club (GVC).

The Blue and Gray men's basketball team ended their 1999-2000 campaign with a 72-55 loss on the road at #3 Montclair State University in the first round of the ECAC Championships on Wednesday, March 1. Kings Point, seeded #6 in the ECACs, ended the year with a 17-11 record.
