DiNapoli and Balboni Defend NY Waters
If our state legislators, Assemblyman Thomas DiNapoli and Senator Michael Balboni, are successful in spearheading the passage of a jointly sponsored bill, the sale of gasoline containing methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) in New York State will be prohibited by 2004. Indeed, the Long Island delegation has been united in opposition to the continued use of MTBE. In a news release Assemblyman DiNapoli said, ''Congress has not yet acted on this important and timely water quality issue, and given the magnitude of MTBE contamination in the state, we must begin this process immediately.''
