Plaza Mayoral Race: Deputy Mayor Celender Kicks Off Campaign
With over 15 years of varied experiences in the governing of Great Neck Plaza, Deputy Mayor Jean A. Celender officially began her run for mayor on Jan. 9, surrounded by a crowd of supporters and her fellow trustees Jay Ferkin and Ted Rosen who are running for re-election along with Conrad Singer running for village justice. At press time, the "Jean Team" is running unopposed.

Four Named Intel Semifinalists
Three seniors from North High School and one from South are among 300 Semifinalists nationwide in the 59th Annual Science Talent Search, sponsored by Intel, the world's largest computer-chip manufacturer. The Science Talent Search, which had been sponsored by Westinghouse for its first 57 years, is considered the "Nobel Prize" of science competitions for U.S. high school seniors.

The Mariners played their first home game of 2000 and despite shooting 25.7 percent from the floor, the Mariners defeated Mt. St. Vincent by a 69-49 score in a Skyline Conference game on Friday. January 7. Kings Point improved their record to 7-5 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Skyline Conference.
