Congratulations to the Great Neck Arts Center on the occasion of the wonderful gala last Thursday evening, honoring Great Neck Plaza Mayor Bob Rosegarten and Great Neck's world famous jazz musician Al Grey. It was an evening to remember!
The gala was as lovely and as elegant as the hostess, Arts Center Executive Director Regina Gil. The entire evening reflected the very special world of the visual and performing arts that has become a hallmark in Great Neck, thanks to Regina and the Arts Center.
We are truly fortunate in this town. We have much to enjoy, much to be proud of. The arts have always been a focus of this community, with a wide variety of performances and art shows and classes, thanks to so many organizations, from the schools, the library and the park district, to smaller, more specialized choral groups and artists networks. But it took a true arts center to really put Great Neck on the ''cultural arts map.''
Last Thursday's gala beautifully presented the arts in all of the artistic glory---from thrilling musical, dance, and, yes, even comedy performances, to a wealth of beautiful photographs (jazz photos thanks to Bill Gottlieb) and arts center children's craft work presented to each guest.
What a celebration of the arts!
How wonderful to live in a town where the world of the arts is truly appreciated and supported! The arts, and the Great Neck Arts Center, enrich the lives of each and every one of us. And we say ''thank you!''
