M.T.B.E. and Great Neck Waters
On Aug. 16, The New York Times reported that the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) had not made public 1,500 sites where soil or water had been contaminated with methyl tertiary butyl ether (M.T.B.E.), a gasoline additive, originally approved by Congress to promote clean air, that is now being examined as a possible health hazard. Since this additive easily dissolves in water and is reported to spread rapidly underground, the Record called the Great Neck North Water Authority's superintendent, Robert Graziano and the Lakeville Manhasset Water Authority's superintendent, Paul Schrader.

Plaza Begins New Apartment Process
The process has begun to consider a proposal to build a new apartment building in Great Neck Plaza at 151/161/171 Great Neck Road. At the Village of Great Neck Plaza's Aug. 18 board of trustees meeting, Mayor Bob Rosegarten and the board approved consulting services to review the application.

UCF Tennis Tournament Finals
