Daniel C. Frankel (representing Great Neck) won the First Place Title for the 11-year-old and under division of The Met PGA Junior Tour at The Ponds Golf Course in Lake Grove, July 12.

The strong wind and very deep rough made for difficult playing conditions during this nine hole event. Daniel's final drive on the ninth hole was approximately 200 yards and carried left of the green and in trouble on this long par 3. Daniel hit a spectacular wedge over trees to land safely on the green. He two putted from 20 feet to secure a one stroke lead over the field of 25 players.

The greatest highlight of the victory was commendation that Daniel received from officials for exceptionally good sportsmanship toward his fellow competitors during play.

Daniel will compete in several more PGA Junior Tour events this summer including two tournaments at Bethpage State Park. Daniel's coach is Anthony Colonna of the PGA.
