  • NEWS: Bosworth Continues to Head School Board

    Before her election to president of the board last summer, Ms. Bosworth had served as school board vice president for the prior three years. She was appointed to the board of education in 1991, and was then elected for a one-year term in 1992. In 1993 she was elected again, this time for a three-year term. The board elected her vice president at the July 5, 1995 organizational meeting, and president at board organizational meetings last July and this year. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Buckle Up for the LIE Expansion

    At a special meeting held by the trustees of the Village of Lake Success with representatives of the New York Department of Transportation (DOT), it was learned that the work on the Lakeville bridge is scheduled to begin after Labor Day. The Community Drive bridge work is targeted to begin in February 2000. Mayor Robert Bernstein had invited representatives from North Shore-Long Island Jewish Hospital System and the Great Neck School District to attend so that coordination and communication among those parties could be facilitated.   • SPORTS: Great Neck Merchants Support ORT's Golf and Tennis Classic

    Once again ORT volunteers Elaine Bernstein and Ina Katzman, together with Joan Betty Schwarz, have embarked on their annual Great Neck shopping spree. Bernstein and Katzman, co-chairs of the ORT Classic Committee, say that the merchants of Great Neck, in particular, have been extremely generous through the years. As a result, they've been dropping in on old and new friends and collecting a marvelous array of gifts and raffle prizes for the upcoming Golf & Tennis Classic. The popular annual event will be held on July 19 at the Fresh Meadow Country Club. FULL STORY
