Nothing to do this summer? Need to make money? Can you use some great experience for your future resume? Do you want to have some fun too? Well, the Great Neck Park District has some wonderful jobs available for students age 16 and up that fill all of these requirements and more.
''If you enjoy the outdoors and want to work close to home in a friendly atmosphere; if you enjoy working with people and want to hone your skills, particularly your 'people' skills, the park district has a position for you,'' says Park District Superintendent Richard Arenella.
Right now, the park district has immediate employment opportunities for those 16 and older as park maintenance attendants, tennis court attendants, tennis instructors, gate attendants, launch operators, snack bar attendants, Nassau County certified lifeguards, swim coaches, swim instructors, pool personnel, show crew, sound technicians, security jobs, clerical jobs, playscape attendants, and recreation attendants.
For those 18 and older, add available positions as wading pool attendants, pre-school aides, and sailing instructors.
For those interested, lifeguards are in particular demand at the parks this summer.
(And, we might add, the park district, an equal opportunity employer, welcomes retirees and seniors as employees as well.)
Having spoken with many youngsters who have enjoyed summer employment with the park district, we agree with Richard Arenella---''These jobs are enjoyable, educational, and challenging.''
And, of course, each position is a paid position.
''So many employees who have worked with the park district come back years later and state that the park district experience was the best experience of their working life,'' reports Mr. Arenella.
