Jesse Halpern's specialty sports shop is sponsoring the Men's Singles 35+ B Tennis bracket of the UCF's Tennis Tournament. The shop is the oldest family run retail store in Great Neck. Opened in 1940 by Jesse Halpern, now opened and operated by Joel Halpern, it has continued the tradition of customized fitting to suit the individual. As Joel stated, "Our philosophy is to match the equipment to the player's level. This will enable our customers to play at their best!"

Jesse Halpern Skate & Tennis Shop specializes in tennis equipment, figure skates, ice skates and roller hockey equipment, roller blades and roller skates.

"We have a national reputation and get phone calls from all over the USA, from skaters who compete internationally to purchase their figure skates. It's a compliment to the store's expertise when hockey coaches bring in their children and their players, because we fit the equipment correctly."

Many of the top ranked players in the USTA Eastern Region purchase and have their rackets serviced in the shop. They join famous company over the years, the Australian Tennis Team, the Kennedy family, Walter Cronkite and most notably Bobby Riggs and Chris Evert.

Jesse Halpern Skate and Tennis Shop is located at 99 Cuttermill Road and is open Tuesday through Saturday. Call 487-6978 if you have a question that needs to be answered by an expert.

If you would like to be a UCF tennis sponsor, please call Roberta Seid at 482-6956. The Great Neck United Community Fund Tennis Tournament helps to support 18 agencies in our town.

Terrific matches will be played all summer long at various tennis courts. The finals will be held at Kings Point Park the weekend of Aug. 14 and 15. The results of each round will be posted in this newspaper, Tennis Junction and of course at Jesse Halpern Skate and Tennis Shop.
