This Monday, May 31, is Memorial Day. All over our nation communities will sponsor annual Memorial Day parades. Generally, such parades bring a big turnout. From grandparents to babies in strollers, and all those in-between, it seems that so many towns show a strong support for their Memorial Day parade. Big crowds are the order of the day.
Why not in Great Neck?
While I really do not know the answer to that question, I do know that we can make a change this year, turn it around, and make this the year that Middle Neck Road is filled with cheering crowds on Monday morning.
Just show up along the parade route at about 9 a.m. Enjoy the bands. Salute the Grand Marshal. Cheer on the local organizations that are always there for us, and, yet, still find time to march. And remember the soldiers---the soldiers way back at Valley Forge, those in World War I and II, the ones who fought in Vietnam and in Korea, the ones who defend our country today---honor all of the soldiers.
Honor the day! Enjoy our parade!
