Former Russell Gardens Mayor Joyce Cohn Dies
Former Russell Gardens Mayor Joyce Cohn died on Saturday, March 6, following a long illness. She served as mayor for four years, from 1993 to 1997. Mayor Cohn also served as president of the Great Neck Village Officials Association.

UCF Honors Two Outstanding Volunteers
"Continuing our annual tradition, the Great Neck United Community Fund (UCF) is holding its 45th dinner-dance," according to UCF President Muriel Turk. This year's event will be held at Leonards of Great Neck on Sunday, April 18, thanks to the efforts of UCF VP of Special Events, Harriet Becker, and her committee of volunteers.

South's DeMarco Qualifies for Swim States
Great Neck South junior Scott DeMarco placed second in the 200 Individual Medely and second in the 100 breast stroke which qualified him for the NY State Swimming and Diving Championship held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center at Eisenhower Park March 5 and 6 in both events.

Rebel Girls Track Team Reaches Finish Line
After seven members of the Great Neck South Rebel Girls Track Team competed at the State Qualifier Meet, three qualified to compete at the Eastern Seaboard Championships, and just one, sophomore Shenita McPhatter, attended the State Championships, the winter track season has come to a close.
