Busy Month for Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department
January 1999 was a busy month for the volunteer members of the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department. The five companies that make up the fire department had a combined total of over 229 fire calls last month compared to 1,946 for all of 1998.

Hotly Contested Estates Elections
Hotly contested elections mark the 1999 election season in Great Neck Estates. Both former Mayor Lawrence Nadel and Acting Mayor Ed Causin are running for mayor. The two trustee spots are sought after by incumbents Sidney Krugman and Sandor Schweiger, William Warner who is running on a slate with Mayor Nadel, and Jon Kirshner.

Conference for North Boys Track
The Great Neck North boys indoor track team, under Coach Adam McKenzie, competed in Conference 4 Championships held at SUNY Farmingdale on Jan. 23. North scored 16 points, placing them sixth.

Rebel Girls Track Team Approaches Finish Line
With several members who qualified for the County Championship Meet, the Great Neck South Rebel Girls Track Team is nearing the end of its successful season. After attending the Jim Fraley Conference Meet and the last regular Colgate Women's Games Meet, the team went to the Conference Championships, followed by the County Championships.
