The years spent at this job have made me realize what a wonderful town we live in, what wonderful people populate this peninsula. Week after week, we are able to bring you not only all of the up-to-the-minute news and sports stories, but we are so pleased to also be able to present a regular flow of feature stories about the exciting, talented people who call Great Neck their home.
Where else but Great Neck could we have a resident and local businessman, Robert Zimmerman, able to share a very personal, ''inside,'' story of President Clinton and the impeachment events! Where else but Great Neck could we have story after story about authors, actors, artists, directors, and, recently, a real Broadway producer, Marcia Roberts! Where else but Great Neck could we have such a wide array of talented athletes, including world ice skating champion, eighth grader Sarah Hughes!
And we must not forget that so many politicians (local, town, county, state, federal) have been very happy to call Great Neck home, too, over the years.
We are proud that so very many of our residents are not only busy volunteering and helping to improve the quality of our life here at home, but so many are also hard at work adding their talents and their energy to the ''outside world'' as well.
All of us at the Great Neck Record have such fun, we have such a good time, meeting all of these very interesting neighbors from a seemingly endless list. We listen, we learn, we enjoy, and we share these stories with you.
We hope that you enjoy reading about your wonderful neighbors as much as we enjoy writing the stories!
What a wonderful town!
