Local Inventor Sheds Light On Fire
When Adam Pierce was a volunteer with Great Neck's Vigilant Fire Company from 1991 to 1995, he quickly learned that "going into a fire without a light is like putting your hand in front of your face and not being able to see anything...a scary feeling." With that in mind, Mr. Pierce, now age 29, has invented and patented a device to help eliminate that experience for firefighters everywhere.

Plaza Considers Hotel and Assisted Living Moratorium
The Village of Great Neck Plaza is considering a moratorium on hotels, and assisted living and independent living facilities. The moratorium, which will probably be for a one-year period, would allow the village time to observe the operations of the two new assisted living facilities and to then decide whether or not to limit the number of such facilities, as well as limit the number of hotels permitted in Great Neck Plaza. A public hearing to consider the proposal is scheduled for Dec. 2.

It was with a great flourish in their final three homes games that the GN North footballers salvaged what appeared to be a repeat of last year's lackluster 1-7 Conference III record plus a nonleague defeat by the local South Rebels.

Great Neck North Girls Volleyball
First year girls Coach Tim Ngyuen, who is the boy's volleyball coach, took over a team that did not win a match last year and this year the team hit the win column four times. The girls team finished the season with a 4-12 record.
