Temple Isaiah Collects Shoes for Kosovo's Children
In response to the plight of refugee children in Kosovo, who with their families have been driven from their homes and face a harsh winter fight for survival in barren mountainous areas, Temple Isaiah of Great Neck has launched a drive to collect shoes and warm socks that will be transported to the Balkans with the help of the International Rescue Committee, Americares, Sole Providers and other organizations.

Park District Passes Proposed 1999 Budget
On Tuesday, Oct. 13, after hearing residents' comments at a scheduled public hearing, the Great Neck Park District board of commissioners approved the proposed budget for 1999.

Hurricane Turn the Corner
In their first ten games this season, the Great Neck PAL Hurricane under 10 travel soccer team played at a high level at times, but couldn't maintain that level throughout each 60 minute game. Several leads were lost as they mounted a 5-5 record in league and tournament play.

UCF Hoops Brings Families Together
Forty-two teams, comprised of sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, cousins and uncles, played 2 on 2 basketball to raise money for the United Community Fund. The tournament, for 4th through 8th graders, was held on Sunday, Sept. 27 at the North Middle School.
