  • NEWS: Library Hires New Director

    In a contract signed on May 27, Christine T. Salita has been hired as director of the Great Neck Library, widely considered to be the jewel in the crown of this community. On July 6, Ms. Salita, who leaves the equivalent position at the Smithtown Library, will officially step into the post held by Kenneth Weil until December 1997, and most recently filled by interim director Arlene Nevens.   • SPORTS: Great Neck North Boys Track

    The Great Neck North boys track team under coaches Adam McKenzie and Peter Hugo ended their season at the Nassau County championships held at Mitchel Field May 19 and 20. North sent the 4x800 relay and it placed third. The quartet consisted of junior Ricky Broomes and sophomores Jason Berke and Izzi Henriquez, and freshman Mike Yellin. Their time was 9:05 on a windy day. Roosevelt won the meet. FULL STORY
