    In response to residents' complaints concerning the building of massive, over-powering houses in the Allenwood area of Great Neck, the Town of North Hempstead has upzoned the area from Residence B to Residence A. Additionally, the town also plans to consider modifying town building codes, legislation that would affect all of the unincorporated areas in North Hempstead. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Eighth Battalion: North Shore Dive Rescue Unit Forming

    A dive rescue unit is being developed to service the North Shore of Long Island---the Eighth Battalion Dive Rescue Team. The Eighth Battalion consists of the eight fire departments on the northwest shore of Nassau County---the Great Neck Alerts, the Great Neck Vigilants, Manhasset Lakeville, Port Washington, Williston Park, East Williston, Albertson, and Plandome.   • SPORTS: Rebel Girls Track Runs to Triumph

    There is a new plaque in the trophy case at Great Neck South High School. It is not from the math team or debate team, but the Rebel Girls Track Team! The team won in its division of 16 teams in the 4x400 meter race at the Penn Relays on April 23 and 24. The Rebels also had several winners at the Freshman/Sophomore Meet on April 18 and came in second place at each of two league meets on April 21 and 28. FULL STORY
