Spring is here, and once again so very many of our residents are pretty actively involved in sports. From the tiny tot tennis players, to the ever increasing high school teams, to new adult soccer league members, Great Neck goes out for sports in a big way.

So once again our sports pages are quickly filling up each week. We are delighted with the wonderful stories, the exciting photos, that come in from coaches, from parents, from students, from the Merchant Marine Academy, from our park district. We enjoy publishing all of the sports news just as much as the coaches and players enjoy the publicity. And from the feed-back we receive, our readers look forward to a paper chock full of local sports.

As a matter of fact, the only ''sports problem'' we have encountered is the occasional phone call asking why a particular team, a particular school, does not receive adequate play in the Great Neck Record. The solution is a simple one---send us your sports stories, your action shots. We will be sure to publish them.

While the Great Neck Park District and the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point have professional staffs to gather, write, and submit the news of their sports events, the rest of the teams, both private leagues and the school teams, must rely on coaches, players, and parents, in the case of children's and teen teams.

The staff at the Great Neck Record is always happy to speak with all teams to help set up a system for reporting local sports. As we have said, photos are really wonderful and we greatly appreciate all of the well-written stories we continuously receive. And if you want your team in the newspaper, and you are a bit unsure of your writing skills, we promise to help out and edit. Just let us know.

We really do want to include as many of the local teams and players as possible in our community newspaper. That's what we are all about. So send us your team coverage---And we will see you in our sports pages!
