Arthur Ziff, 58, of Oyster Bay, died Dec. 30, 1997. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up in Great Neck. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from NYU and his master's degree in guidance counseling from Hofstra University. Mr. Ziff taught math in the Seaford School District. He played the saxophone with the Oyster Bay Community Band and was a member of the Oyster Bay Jewish Center. Husband of Sydney. Father of Perry Ziff, Lori and Ely Arav. Arrangements were made by Gutterman's Funeral Home, Woodbury. Interment Old Montefiore Cemetery.
Ruth Simon Friedman, 80, of Floral Park, died on Jan. 11, 1998. She was co-founder and treasurer of the Coffee Distributing Corp., Garden City Park, which distributes coffee, light snacks, cleaning supplies and accessories to offices. She was a founding member of the Lake Success Jewish Center and was on the board of directors and the president of the Sisterhood. She was also past president of the Migdal Chapter of Hadassah. Wife of the late Samuel N. Mother of Iris LeVine, Judith Babcock, William F. and Robert Friedman. Sister of Janet Aelony. Services were held at the Lake Success Jewish Center. Interment Beth David Cemetery. Donations can be made to Hadassah.
