Belgrave Water Pollution Control District

Israeli Folk Dance Night

With renowned folk dance instructor Danny Uziel. Beginners welcome. For the first 30 minutes Danny will instruct. Then move to some more intermediate dances for everyone to enjoy. Exhibits at Gallery Emanuel

The gallery is located at 150 Hicks Ln. Hours: Monday - Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A work by gallery director Liz Gribbin will also be on exhibit.

  • In a Mind's Eye, works by Barbara Schwartz, Shellie Schneider, Paul Jeffries and Kiki Riskin, will be on view through Jan. 5.

  • Power of Suggestion features works by Terry Elkins, Norman Seaver, Raisy Derzie and Ellen Dickenson. Trip to Jordan

Author Adaia Shumsky will discuss her recent experiences during a trip to Jordan sponsored by King Hussein. The author and her guide struck an unusual friendship when both women discovered the parallel paths in their lives. Daughter and granddaughter of millers whose mills were destroyed simultaneously during the Arab - Israeli War of 1948, they found a common language in the tragic events that befell their families during the war and its aftermath. The story is part of the recently published book, A Bridge Across the Jordan: The Friendship Between a Jewish Carpenter and the King of Jordan by Adaia and Abraham Shumsky. 7 p.m. at Temple Israel, 108 Old Mill Rd.
