Glen Cove Knights Heading to Playoffs

The Glen Cove Knights are on a roll headed into the playoffs winning 10 out of their last 11 Connie Mac games. In a Saturday night double-header the Knights took on the USA Tribe Blue. The Knights jumped out to an early 2 run lead with some key hits by Kevin Martinez and Will Kassar. The Tribe fought back and made it a 2-1 game in the 5th. Kevin Martinez started on the mound for the Knights and had a great game going through 5 innings allowing only 3 hits and striking out 6. In the 5th inning Cody West singled and then stole second and scored on a hit by Dennis Oregan. Martinez struggled in the 6th and gave up another run on walks making it a 3-2 game. Johnny Fiorino came in to relieve Martinez with 2 outs bases loaded and struck out the last batter. The Knights defense was able to hold onto the lead and win the game. The second game started out tough for the Knights giving up 6 runs in the 1st inning but back-to-back hits by Dylan Tenke and Chris Theodoro brought in 1. Nick West Came in and threw for 2 innings shutting down the Tribes offense and hits by Nick West, Kassar, Cody West and Chris Mazzeo made it a 2 Run Game in the 4th. Dennis Oregan relieved West on the mound  and gave up 1 run in the 5th putting the Knights behind by 3. In the 6th inning the Knights bats came alive and a line drive into the gap by James Catanzano tied the game up. The Knights continued to play aggressive and Kassar scored from third and West scored from 2nd on aggressive base running. The Knights held on to win 13-10. They face HBQBV on Tuesday night.
