Mrs. Gow said that she has had the pleasure of serving as New York State Public High School Girl’s Lacrosse co-coordinator for the last 10 years and was happy to have been re-elected for another term.
“It is an incredibly satisfying job, as I get to meet many talented and knowledgeable people in the world of women’s lacrosse, which is the fastest- growing sport in the country,” she said. “As sports coordinator, I keep the whole state up-to-date with the latest nuances pertaining to the sport. I act as a liaison with officials, college coaches, high school coaches, athletic directors and the state office personnel. My most fun duty is to run the State Girls Lacrosse Tournament in June beginning with a banquet and speaker all the way to the State Champions. This year, I have been fortunate to have been selected as a member of the National Federation of State High Schools Association for the Girls Lacrosse Rules Committee which meets to discuss potential rule changes, which in turn recommend them to the U.S. Lacrosse Rules Committee.
“This experience is invaluable to me as the varsity coach of the Glen Cove Girls Lacrosse Team, I really feel equipped to coach my team knowing all the latest rule changes, skill techniques and exactly what and how the college coaches are looking at their prospective student athletes. It has enabled my lacrosse girls to follow their passion of playing lacrosse in college.”
The Varsity Girls’ Basketball team won a thrilling come-from-behind overtime victory over Bethpage.
