The Glen Cove Pony White Cardinals capped off their season with an exciting win against Broad Channel to bring home the Championship trophy. Both teams traveled to Bethpage for the game.
Broad Channel kicked off to Glen Cove to start the game. Nicholas Lucchese received the ball. After passes to Frankie Castiglione and Tommy Burke and runs by Matthew Aufiero, the ball was turned over on the 2-yard line. The Cardinals quickly rallied and got a safety when Kobe Thompson sacked the Broad Channel quarterback in the end zone.
They quickly scored again after a nice 25-yard pass to Tommy Burke and several runs by Elijah Ambles, on a 20-yard run by Frankie Castiglione. The extra point failed.
The Cardinals soon scored again on a 30-yard run by Fernando Aguilar. Unfortunately, this was called back due to a penalty. On the next play, the touchdown was scored by John Murphy. The extra point was scored by Jack Peguillan.
Just before half-time came another score on a 30-yard pass from quarterback Nicholas Lucchese to Franklie Castiglione. The extra point failed. This made the score at half-time, 21-0.
Since they were up by three touchdowns, Broad Channel could choose four players to remove from the game. They were Austin Puco, Tommy Burke, Jack Peguillan and Kobe Thompson.
Throughout the game, defense was tough, holding Broad Channel to one or two first downs all game.
Numerous tackles were made by Kobe Thompson, Austin Puco, Jack Giovanetti, Jack Peguillan, Tommy Burke, Ryan Aughavin, Matthew Aufiero, Frankie Castiglione, Elijah Ambles, Camrohn Pittman, Sean Cunningham, Jake Cirella, Fernando Aguilar, Nicholas Lucchese, Hayden DiPalma, Howard Woods and Alex Venturino. Thompson, Puco and Giovanetti also had sacks.
Also tough defensively were Danny Neice, John Michael Rhein, Brendan Boyle, Brandon Aviles, Giovanni Viau, Sean Davis and Jeremy Zeineth.
Great blocking by the offense allowed for the scoring. Danny Neice, Quentin Palone, Jack Giovanetti, Alex Venturino, Brandon Aviles, Hayden DiPalma, Jeremy Zeineth and Sean Davis all played hard.
Elijah Ambles, Nicholas Lucchese, Danny Neice and Ryan Aughavin all had runs for yards gained during the second half, but the game ended when Lucchese handed off the ball to Castiglione who ran 75 yards for a touchdown.
The final score was 27-0.
