On Oct. 28, the Glen Cove Middle School football team played an away game right here in Glen Cove.  The team bus traveled southeast from the school and ended up on Duck Pond Road for a 4:15 p.m. game vs. Friends Academy.  Glen

Cove won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball.

On the first play from scrimmage, halfback Devron James broke a 65-yard TD run. The Glen Cove defense put the heat on the Friends Academy quarterback and forced a sack and Friends had to punt the ball back to the Glen Cove team.

The Glen Cove offense marched back downfield resulting in a 5-yard TD run by quarterback Quadir Akines.  Fullback Joseph Collins added the extra point run, making the score 13-0.  In the second quarter, halfback Devon Thurmond broke a 40-yard TD run. Tight end Jack Kaffle caught the extra point try and the score was 20-0 at the half.

In the third quarter halfback Cartier Funderburke broke a 49-yard TD run off right tackle for Glen Cove. Halfback Joe Yee ran in the extra point.  Despite being down 27-0, the Friends Academy team showed a lot of fight and refused to give up. The Friends team then went on their best drive of the game. Friends took the ball on their own 35-yard line and drove all the way down to the Glen Cove 2-yard line. On fourth down from the Glen Cove 2-yard line, the Friends quarterback, under heavy pressure from the Glen Cove defensive line, threw a pass that was intercepted by Glen Cove cornerback Michael Florides.

Florides proceeded to take the interception back 92 yards for a Glen Cove TD.  Fullback Logan Pascucci ran in the extra point for a 34-0 lead. Glen Cove scored again in the fourth quarter when halfback Christopher Thompson broke a 42-yard run. Fullback Sal Gustella ran in the extra point making the final score 41-0.
