The Glen Cove Middle School football team defeated Thompson Middle School in a Thursday home game by the score of 33-0. After a scoreless first quarter, the Glen Cove offense went on a nice drive and ended on quarterback Keith Simpson’s one yard plunge into the end zone. Tight end Jack Kaffl then scored the extra point on a pass from Simpson.
Later in the quarter with Thompson driving, cornerback Michael Floridas intercepted a Thompson pass on the Glen Cove 15-yard line keeping Thompson off the score board. In the third quarter quarterback Quadir Akines found tight end Jayleen Johnson for a 31-yard TD pass. While still in the third quarter the Glen Cove defense stepped up when Jayleen Johnson from his defensive end position sacked the Thompson QB causing a fumble, which was recovered by defensive lineman Jared Vanegas.
In the fourth quarter half back Devon Thurmond scored on a 30-yard TD run and halfback Cartier Funderburke scored the extra point making the score 20-0. While still in the fourth quarter defensive end Dajour Gibson sacked the Thomspon Quarterback causing him to fumble on their 5-yard line. Glen Cove took over and gave Dejour Gibson the ball from his halfback position. Dejour Gibson was up to the task and ran the ball in for another Glen Cove TD.
Late in the fourth quarter half back Christopher Thompson scored the last TD for Glen Cove on a 1 yard TD run. Logan Pascucci ran in the extra point making the final score 33-0.
